Executive Protection Shaped by Assessment
KSS Canada provides executive protection for private clients, families and organizations in Toronto, across Ontario, and when Canadian clients travel abroad. We assess first, then protect. Before an operative is deployed, we look at who the Principal is, where they will be, who might take an interest in them, and what is already visible about them online. The size and shape of the protection follow from that assessment, not from a standard package.
Our clients include ultra-high-net-worth individuals and their families, family offices, corporate leaders, and public figures visiting Toronto for business, productions and events. Assignments range from a single operative working quietly alongside a Principal to a full team covering residences, travel and public appearances.
Operatives Selected for Judgement
Every operative we deploy is selected through KSS’s proprietary Selection Day process, a scenario-based assessment of judgement, temperament and discretion as well as technical skill. Fewer than a third of candidates pass, measured before fitness testing, and the process is documented in the Close Protection and Security Journal. Those who pass are onboarded to KSS procedures and deployed under KSS’s direct operational command.
Every operative holds the licence Ontario requires. What sets them apart is judgement: how they read a room, manage an arrival, handle a member of the public or the press, and know when to stay in the background.
Part of a Wider Security Program
Executive protection is rarely the whole answer. It is often one part of a wider program, which may include:
- Advance work on venues, routes and arrival points before the Principal moves
- Secure ground transportation with dedicated security drivers. Where we can, we keep the driving and protection roles separate, so the operative’s attention stays on the Principal
- Residential security teams and residential security risk assessments
- Protective intelligence from our in-house intelligence team: threat assessments, digital exposure checks and ongoing monitoring
- International travel security, working with established security partners in-country
Requirements can be short-term, recurring or long-term, and the program changes as the Principal’s circumstances do.
Discreet by Design
Good protection is judged by what does not happen, and by how little it disrupts the Principal’s life. Our operatives keep a low profile, work around the family’s routines and business commitments, and coordinate closely with family office staff, executive assistants, estate managers and any existing security team. When we work alongside another protection firm, our operatives work to its procedures as well as our own.
