Residential Security Risk Assessment After an Intrusion
Challenge:
A family’s home in the Greater Toronto Area was broken into in early summer. The property was part-way through a renovation and relied on a mix of consumer alarm and camera products. The family wanted an independent view of how exposed the home was, and what to change, before spending money on new equipment.
Solution:
KSS Canada surveyed the property within weeks of the intrusion, assessing the perimeter, entry points, the existing alarm and camera equipment, and the household’s routines. The findings were set out against four principles (deter, detect, delay and react) in a written report, with recommendations ordered as immediate, short-term and medium-term actions.
Outcome:
The report recommended replacing the consumer equipment rather than adding to it, moving to a commercial-grade alarm and camera system with ULC-listed professional monitoring. The engagement was advisory: the family received clear, prioritized recommendations to carry out with their own contractors, and walked through the report in person with KSS.

Low-Profile Travel Security for a Canadian Family in Rio de Janeiro
Challenge:
A Canadian family planned a visit to Rio de Janeiro. They wanted to be properly protected in the city, but did not want to travel with a large or visible security team.
Solution:
KSS Canada’s intelligence team prepared a pre-trip travel threat assessment and briefed the family on situational awareness before departure. A single senior security advisor, with remote medical training, travelled with the family throughout, making decisions on the ground and coordinating local transport. He worked alongside KSS’s established security partner in Brazil, a vetted team with national coverage that operates to KSS standards, with both teams working from one operational plan issued in English and Portuguese. Our operations team tracked movements in real time, with welfare checks every 12 hours.
Outcome:
The family completed their visit as planned, with protection that matched the risk and stayed out of sight.

Experienced Operatives for a Partner Firm in Toronto
Challenge:
A protection firm with clients visiting Toronto needed a local partner it could trust: operatives with the experience and judgement to work alongside its own people and in front of its clients, and a team on the ground that knew the city.
Solution:
KSS Canada chose operatives for each deployment on experience and temperament, all selected through KSS’s proprietary Selection Day process, and matched them to the client and the setting. Our Toronto team handled planning, scheduling and coordination on the ground, giving the lead firm a single point of contact that understood both the city and the standard its clients expect.
Outcome:
Each deployment ran as planned, and the firm has returned to KSS Canada for repeat work throughout 2026, trusting our operatives with its own clients.
