KSS Canada is the operating name of 1001309778 Ontario Inc., the Canadian subsidiary of King Safety and Security Ltd, an international protective security and risk advisory firm founded by Matthew Beer in 2014. From our office in Toronto we advise and protect private clients, families, family offices and organizations across Ontario, and support Canadian clients when they travel abroad.
KSS Canada was incorporated in Ontario in 2025 so that Canadian clients have a locally registered, locally licensed team, backed by the methods, intelligence capability and international experience of the wider firm.
We assess before we act. Every engagement begins with an assessment of the risks around the people, homes, businesses and routines we have been asked to protect: site surveys, pattern of life, travel and digital exposure. Our recommendations then shape the response, so no two clients receive the same security program. We recommend reassessing at least once a year, because a family’s risk changes as its circumstances do.
That response can include residential security risk assessments, residential security teams, executive protection, secure ground transportation, intelligence and digital vulnerability work, and travel risk management. Executive protection is a core discipline for us, and it works best as one part of a program designed around the client’s real exposure.
The operatives we deploy are selected through KSS’s proprietary Selection Day process, a scenario-based assessment of judgement, temperament and adaptability as well as technical skill. Fewer than a third of candidates pass, measured before fitness testing. The process is documented in the IPSB Close Protection and Security Journal. Every operative we deploy in Ontario holds the licence required under the Private Security and Investigative Services Act, 2005.
Across the wider firm, our work has included protecting royal households and visiting dignitaries, ultra-high-net-worth families with homes in several countries, music artists on tour, and media crews in hostile environments.
